Aarikka is known for its round and playful wooden shapes, and this is Aarikka at its purest: Palloshakki. This three-dimensional game of tic-tac-toe, originally published in the 1970s, has brought joy and puzzlement to people of all ages for decades. It’s beautiful, innovative and hand-made.
It was also included in the Design Museum’s exhibition of one hundred items representing Finland, where one item was selected to represent each year of Finland’s independence. These objects told the story of Finland and Finnish people in many everyday, innovative, industrial and even humorous ways.
So wonderful to have you back, Palloshakki. Never stop playing.
